drily I'm just going to point out that the New Testament was written in a time and a society where women were considered the property of their male relatives...father, husband, brother, son, depending on circumstances. At the same time, the paterfamilias/patriarch was responsible for the behavior of his wife, children, slaves, etc. This was built into the society. Now you may accept that this is the way it should be, but I am going to point out that from a legal perspective, today women are legally responsible for ourselves. You should be asking yourselves why you are so very, very willing to continue to hold on to a belief about male ownership of women just because it says that in the Bible. After a very bitterly fought Civil War, we got rid of slavery, which was also OK in New Testament times. Do we need another Civil War to get you men clinging to women's inferiority to recognize our worth and value? I mean, the way you guys treat us, it's almost like Jesus only died to remove the curse of the law from men, but we women remain cursed under the law. Oh, and don't read this as an endorsement of Brian Simmons, either. As far as I'm concerned, his translation is a vanity project that has a lot of support. It's interesting to me just to see how far people will go in carrying their beliefs into an "inerrant" Bible.

If we are making stuff up, what's the point? Why would anyone follow a fake god of our own making?

Or worse yet, try to correct the wrong think (in this guys mind) of the REAL creator.

My high school english teacher, who was wife of a Church of Christ minister, used to say to me, that this NT writer, Paul was ' sexist'. A celebrity pastor, who appointed his wife to preach, after she gave a nearly 2 hour sermon, ( the content of which is hard to describe ), suggested that any one like me, who questioned her role, had serious spiritual / pyschological problems when they pointed out the passage from 1 Timothy.

Most churches in practice do not agree with the passage, so this must prove that: 1. Scripture is out dated, for example, scripture also forbids lobster & clothing made from mixed fibers, 2. That Paul was sexist / misogynist etc. 3. That God is sexist / misogynist, & also old fashioned. 4. That modern christians are wiser, more eclectic than ancient christians, who were willing to be fed to the lions for their extreme faith & intolerance.

I'm not a fan of "the Passion" but you really are ignorant of most scholarship on exegesis on those passages. Put it this way, I was in a Brethren Assembly (and they don't permit women to even speak at all) for years but once I did an open study of the case from modern scholarship I had to change my mind in order to follow the Word of God.
I'd recommend you search Craig Keeners on the issue.

Why do you think God clearly does not permit women to lead? Is it simply a reflection of a male-dominated society that wrote its myths with the only social structure it knew? Or does God believe that women are less intelligent teachers and less capable leaders? If this is revealed truth, the image it shows of God is not a reasonable or nice one. Any female high school or college professors today? Congresswomen? Yeah those would be banned too. Keep in mind that schools didnt exist in the way they do now, so this injunction would be broadly interpreted. That, my friends is how we get Taliban level illiteracy rates for girls and pull our society back the the bronze age.

Such a shame that Christian’s today only listen to what their itching ears want to hear and not the absolute truth, because they don’t want to truly die to self. I don't think you have to change a bible verse in order to support women pastors. The church I go to supports women pastors and they're not part of the NAR. I believe that 2 Timothy 2:13 is more for husbands and wives more than women and men in general. I expect a lot of backlash for making this comment, but I don't care. If God really thought that female leadership was so horrible, Deborah wouldn't have been an amazing prophetess, and she was a leader over a lot of men! Call me crazy but I'm sticking to my guns.

Mega churches, hyper charismaniac, word of faith, NAR , TBN, "new age christians " have branched away from true biblical orthodoxy (straight doctrine) ; that's why they need their own different bible like the religious cults do with book of mormon, new world translation.

Any translation based on the Nestle-Aland UBS text is corrupt. Look up Matteus Lucas connecting the dots bible translations

Brian Simmons is not of God; but of Satan. I left a church because the passion fake translation was being used. Simmons is a liar; he as no training is such doings, and doesn't deserve to be put amongst other translations that go through true scrutiny to find the correct translation. Because at the time women were gossipers I don’t understand why people won’t read the Bible in context of the time when referencing certain things like tattoos etc however things what Jesus said was sin will always be sin like fornication,lying etc a woman preaching just because Paul said not to in the times of Ephesus as he was dealing with cultural issues IMO I don’t consider that a sin but to each their own however I do agree that women should not be the Senior pastor alone

A lot Of People Like using the word hell for stupid reason but I am use the word to judge this female pastors for HELL NO A WOMAN CAN NOT BE A PASTOR OR A TEACHER OF MAN FOR Why Don't females just stick to the scriptures? This is actually the problem with my some fellow Christians they want to take parts of The Bible that suits them. That doesn't not work. If God's Word is clear about something we must read it in context and act on it.
The times change but God's Word never changes. Even on topics on homosexuals and other sin, The Bible clear.
People say we in modern times now. I disagree.
A women can not preach to the whole congregation in a church and that's finals. She can teach other women and children yes.
