loved watching mike Ross and Gootekts all the way back to the ‘08 arcade days, on their channel. And the visit to Tokyo w/ ed Ma
ОтветитьSorry, but King of Fighters was going strong during the "dark ages". SNK had loads of problems, but they put out lots of 2D fighting games between SF3 and 4.
ОтветитьSmash isn't a fighter
ОтветитьThis just made me want to buy SF4 again...I remember playing it on my dad's phone back in the day...good times....
ОтветитьSuch a great game. I remember arcades were packed. It felt like the 90’s. I really wished they had released a MVC 3 cabinet too.
ОтветитьI never thought about it this way but absolutely agree. I remember being maybe 8 or 9 and the reason I wanted a PS1 was for Marvel Super Heroes. After that I played a lot of different fighting games from Tekken 3 to Darkstalkers. My main games were MvC2 and CvS2. I didn’t realize it but after the Dreamcast I pretty much stopped playing fighting games all thru the early to mid 00’s until SF4 released. My roommates and I played a ton of MvC2 and SF4 between 08’ and 12’. After that I did get into Smash4, then really into DBZF which felt like a real return to roots with a beloved series tag team fighter. SF5 was meh, but SF6 is really feeling good. So much so that I’ve organized a large friend group to make it out “community” fighter and most people are enjoying it. SF6 seems to be a true return to form.
ОтветитьThe biggest highlight of stf4 was LTG VS viscant 😂
ОтветитьI was 10 when SF3 came out. I thought it was cool, but there was never anyone else trying to play it in the arcade. It was also competing for quarters DIRECTLY with Tekken 3.
ОтветитьI got my SFIV at launch and after 3-4 days my X360 had the 3RL. Back at the time, I got my 360 without warranty. I was so hyped that I got a new 360 on the next day.
ОтветитьMy arcade experience as a kid was severely limited. My mom didn’t let me go to the one arcade in town because she was worried I would meet the wrong kids. So my memories of arcade games is SF2 at 7-11 and MK at Walmart. Lol
ОтветитьI honestly believe (my personal opinion) that Street Fighter 4 is the greatest street fighter ever made. I remember vanilla version SF4 grindijg for months and months online and playing againsy locals for money. SF4 super was sooo huge as well. All the tournament hype, the comebacks, combos, the super and ultra moves I really do believe are much better than any other SF game out there. Animation was very fluid. Focus attack was a huge game changer and the roster man it was the most impressive thing. I miss sf4. Now that's I'm playing street fighter 6 it really doesn't feel the same anymore. The drive rush is not as ground breaking as what the focus attack did.
Ответитьninja dagger
Ответить2d is superior to 3d. Hands down. I'll take SF2 over any 3d.
ОтветитьI heard SF6 is more impactful than this game.
ОтветитьReally, i was disappointed with SF4. I feel like TEKKEN took a dump after 5 and 7 might as well be POWER RANGERS in a Killer Instinct environment. MK is the only title that has continuously improved and made fabulous results.
ОтветитьNot even the cheesy opening song could derail the SFIV juggernaut 😂
ОтветитьWell researched, informative, and entertaining. This video was great. More journalism should be like this.
Ответитьstreet fighter 3 is such a funny case, cause by all rights its superior to all the 3d games it came out around (and its still played and loved today), it looks and plays better, but was a complete flop, goes to show sometimes the public perception trumps actual quality. and as a developer do you care more about quality and legacy or profit, because personally id prefer the latter if i was them, but if you flop and you're company dies then you lose the chance to make great games in the future.
ОтветитьSF4>SF6
Ответитьnice tribute for a very well deserving game, well played Max and Dave :)
ps: for the outro part, which Dave explains that sf2 intro is his best; well I've seen some short interviews with the composers of that soundtrack. And I know that almost every stage music has its own composer and there are many stories and ideas behind them. I'd love to see a full coverage about that any day, any time :)
SF4 was so much better than 5 :( Glad 6 is doing better.
ОтветитьSFIV was massive, I remember during that time in major arcade places in malls that a lot of player are queueing to play the game. It was also the time when Tekken 6 and 5 DR was still popular, and people are still playing MVC2 but the people who are waiting in the queue were not as many as SFIV. Its like around 70 to 80% of the people were there to play SFIV and the remaining percentage were watching or playing other games.
ОтветитьMeh.. max is the type of guy to kick you off his stream because you contradicted 1 thing he said with a fact.
Emotional guy.
SF4's my favorite SF Game to this day!
ОтветитьI actually got into fighting games seriously in the FG dark ages. In college I made a FG club in the mid aughts with CvS2, MvC2, 3s, tekken 5, some ggx2. Even though I was terrible at those games, it was a golden age lineup in my mind
ОтветитьI heard super sf4 is somehow better than ultra sf4. True ?
Ответитьvirtua fighters look tekkeny
ОтветитьSMASH is Not a fighter
ОтветитьSf4 was a great time to be a fighting game fan. It wasn't the the same as when sf2 dropped but it's the closest we can get in terms of the hype around it.
ОтветитьStreet fighter 4 was My Childhood bring back memories
ОтветитьSf4 is still the best game street fighter ever came out even today.
Ответитьgod awful live action film? Excuse me??
ОтветитьI wasnt a huge fan st3 myself even when third strike came out it wasnt until 2001 did i realize it was a masterpiece haha basicly by the capcom vs capcom 2 did i really revisit sf3ts
ОтветитьCapcom should re-release Street Fighter 4 and add up Gill, Urien, Alex, Nash & Oro on the roster
ОтветитьI don’t think 2 D Fighting Games will ever go out of style. As long as it’s kept fresh and still have the hints of nostalgic play. That have been loved for Decades Now. MK and Street Fighter are the Gold Standard 🏆🏆
ОтветитьKinda crazy how 2ds games are back and now 3d is becoming obsolete besides Tekken. We need a new good dead or alive, virtual fighter or Soul calibur. Or 3d Mk
ОтветитьTechnically Fatal Fury wasn't inspired by Street Fighter 2, it was made by the same guy in charge of the original Street Fighter and came out the same year as SF2. Compared to SF1 it was way better, but not as polished as SF2.
ОтветитьSFIV was great yeah... much hype
Ответитьim sorry but third strike is still better than sf4
ОтветитьSo street fighter 2 (xbox Live) hyper fighting is the real savior💪🏻
ОтветитьFor me, the Soul Calibur series is better. I wish that was the one people put in high regard.
ОтветитьWait, why Maximilian Dood of all people?
ОтветитьThere were too many returning characters from Street Fighter 2.
ОтветитьIt's like saying how Metroid Dread "saved" metroidvania's...
It's always been here it will always be here just because it's down doesn't mean it's out, "retro stuff" will always have a resurgence.
Sf4 the savior . True know
ОтветитьSF4 is the greatest fighting game of all time.
ОтветитьI miss SFIV arcade tournaments in JP so much
