Donavan Brazier wasn’t close to Johnny Gray’s elusive 1:12.81 600m world record, but in the absence of a record-breaking performance, the men’s 600m at the Gyulai István Memorial meeting was a great race between Donavan Brazier and Puerto Rico’s Wesley Vázquez. The 800m world champ rallied late to catch Vazquez and win in 1:15.07. Vázquez, fifth in the Doha final last fall, was second on Wednesday in 1:15.31. Brazier was well off his own 600m best of 1:13.77, the world indoor best that he set in 2019.
