I think you forgot to mention an important part wich is the TVXQ Avex label that got them into making 2 One Piece opening and 1 ending wich is insanely huge consedering how popular the series is

SM paved the way to a lot of things that the current groups are benefiting til now like the Japan and China market. They have opened the market outside Korea. Imagine if your group flopped in Korea and there's no other market to promote, how will they survive?
That's why Japan and China (and some parts of Asia) are the solid market and big fanbase of KPOP until now. Big 3 have introduced KPOP to U.S market too and now BTS have boost the popularity of KPOP globally.
SM,YG and JYP are not just Big 3 because they are the biggest company but because they have contributed a lot to KPOP when it was just starting to grow, together with other 2nd gen agencies like Starship, FNC, Cube etc. And now a lot of new agencies are contributing to the success of KPOP globally like Hybe.

Imagine SM started it all then some newbie k-pop fans degrade SM the audacity tho. The process and experiments SM made just to create k-pop. The company may not good in handling the artist remember it's part of the process. It's a business if there's a problem a solution is needed.

I wish he talked more about dbsk….bcuz they made a big impact on kpop going global. The fandom was the biggest at that time. And they had the best vocals and lives ever 😭

SM got it the idea from Johnny Kitagawa. I haven't stanned a KPop group from SM since DBSk but SM Idols have always been top tier up to now

And now somebody tell me that it‘s not big3 but big4 lmao. You wanna compare Hybe to this powerhouse of Entertainment with all those legendary/ impactful artist‘s: H.O.T, S.E.S, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Shinee, Girl‘s Generation, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT, Aespa, Riize, …
I‘m not starting on that just BoA alone would be enough to show the impact sm had for kpop that Hybe doesn‘t except bts but tbh kpop wouldn‘t be that popular internationaly but still there would be Psy, Blackpink, Twice, EXO (and other sm artist‘s), etc. to do this job.

Just a note: SM didn’t come up with the elevation and training system. It’s a one on one copy of the Japanese system of the already since the 60’s very popular idol culture and their lead company the Japanese company of johnny & associates…
However due to the Koran and Japanese relationship as well as the huge scandals surrounding johnny & associates, this part is often cut from news articles or „origin stories“ of K-pop.
