Which country has the most islands?

Most people would probably say that Indonesia has the most islands, when in reality, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Even though Indonesia is completely made up of islands, it doesn’t even have more than 20,000 islands. Over on the other side of the world, Canada has around 52 thousand islands, which is still extremely high, but it doesn’t even make the top 3.

The country with the most islands in the world is located in a place where you normally wouldn’t expect a large amount of islands, and this involves the Nordic countries. In fact, all three countries on the Scandinavian peninsula control a massive amount of islands, and these three countries combined control 76% of all the islands in the world. But out of these countries, the one with the most is Sweden, which controls a total of 267,000 islands.
