@MRX31605 So you're saying that people today don't want games with good gameplay, and that in the past people didn't care if a game had bad graphics. NO! Graphics did matter back then, and gameplay does matter now! I'm sick and tired of these comments. Also, just because a game is old, doesn't mean it can't be bashed for being bad.

It looks hard, just like avgn described it, but on the other hand I think if you just sit down and take your time - you might pass it one level. I would think learning all the game is hard. If they made the game easier, I think it would've been pretty popular as it looks pretty good.

I don't know about this game but it has amazing music for an NES game, it looks varied and the graphics aren't bad, it just seems painful to play. But mostly the music, goddamn.

Good job man, this game is actually pretty fun when you get used to it. I always start with the Reptyl level :P

Lots of 8 bit games are harder than this. Battletoads, Ikari Warriors, Ghosts n Goblins, Dragon's Lair, Holy Diver, Super Mario 2 Japanese version, Starship Hector, Q-bert, Castlevania 3, Ninja Gaiden 1 2 3, Adventure Island, Dino Riki, Snake Rattle n Roll, Gauntlet, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, I think all those games are harder than this one.

Castlevania 3 and Ninja Gaiden are NOT harder than Silver Surfer. Some of those others are comparable.

You show me someone who defeated Jacquio's three phases who won't acknowledge how difficult he made that game, and I'll show you someone who defeated him with save states. As for CV3, I'm totally baffled. CV3's difficulty would rape two silver surfers at the same time, it's ridiculous. If I were to pick any two off the list for your comment, it would be snake rattle n roll and dragon's lair. Silver Surfer has a high learning curve, that's it. Just play it for more than an hour and you'll ace it.

I didn't say Ninja Gaiden wasn't difficult, but sheer force of will gets you through (and BTW, Jacquio is only two of the final three bosses - the others are the wolves). But it's very easy for me to rate Ninja Gaiden as less difficult - I beat Ninja Gaiden (many times, in fact). I did not beat Silver Surfer. Castlevania 3? As a kid, I got all 4 endings. I actually think the original Castlevania is much harder.

Also, the "high learning curve" comment is always a cop-out. You can say this about EVERY hard game ever made. No, you won't ace Ninja Gaiden in an hour, but that doesn't mean it's difficult. Just like Silver Surfer, it's all about memorization.

Nah, that's a difficulty curve. I'm talking about learning curve. Not every hard game has a high learning curve. Ghosts n Goblins has no learning curve at all other than jump move shoot. Silver Surfer on the other hand has a massive hitbox, bigger than his graphic, and it takes a long time to get used to lugging him around a tiny space without touching anything. But once you do, you can survive long enough to get maximum powerups. Once you do that, it's an easy game... until you die again. :P

This game sucks and it's hard. If, at least, Silver Surfer could touch the walls and have some extra lives, this game could be playable.

People complain that you die if you only get hit once. So? In Lifeforce you die if you get hit once. In Contra you die if you get hit once. In many classic games you die if you get hit once. And what's the big deal about dying by touching a wall? That's not unfair, just be careful and look where you're going. I did not find this a problem at all and it amazes me how so many people think it's game breaking.
