Clear and easy to understand, thank you for making this video.
Ответить‘Bokeh expert’ can’t even pronounce the word correctly.
🤦♀️
It’s not that this is hard for Americans to pronounce. What’s hard, is the likelihood of Americans putting some respect on another culture in the world and putting effort into learning something new.
As you display here.
I’m not sure where you did your research bud. It’s woefully lacking at best.
It’s not ‘bone’ it’s ‘bore’.
Nothing screams American exceptionalism more than claiming a word to be an ‘obscure term’ or an ‘American word’.
Bro.
Here’s a way to learn it. It’ll take around 12 seconds to learn.
Remember this ‘more care’
The sounds from the first part of those two words, is how you pronounce ‘bokeh’.
Now let’s try a reinforcement effective.
‘More care’
‘Born ken’
‘Four den’
‘Tour men’
‘Core ten’
‘Wore len’
Was that so hard
Now go and do better
Put some respect on the beautiful Japanese word
UFO gang here.
ОтветитьJapanese here; H is silent, and just there to prevent people from saying the e as in 'joke' or 'poke'. Pokémon's é is there for the same reason, just to suggest the same pronunciation.
ОтветитьTonalicious
ОтветитьI just learned BOKEH is a Japanese word. It means "something is BLURY", and it is pronounced "BOh-Keh" not "BOUh-KAh.
ОтветитьGreat video, new to cameras, super helpful.
ОтветитьI am learning how to paint Bokeh this is very helpful!
ОтветитьLiteracy Karen's are some of the most annoying people, best to just ignore em.
ОтветитьXnxxx
ОтветитьI think it's incomplete to say non-photographers don't notice bokeh. I suspect it registers on a subconscious level. Probably true with many things we do as photographers, since the typical viewer isn't analytical when viewing photos.
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьI love Bokeh balls!
ОтветитьThanks Tony! Great video
ОтветитьWhy is your ear out of focus Tony? I wanna see the lake Tony.
ОтветитьThank you Tony for all your hard work. You have been a pinnacle to most of our careers. Keep up the good work my friend.
ОтветитьVery clear and elegant explanation.
Ответить..... Cue the inevitable bitchfest between those who rabidly insist that it's pronounced: "Bow-kay", ... And those who are equally fanatic that it's pronounced: "Bow-kuh". Interestingly people who have Japanese friends or wives, or whatever, have claimed authoritatively, both pronunciations !! I think most people pronounce it the way Tony does.
ОтветитьThanks Tony. I shall be practicing this on Christmas Day!
ОтветитьYou're making it up.
ОтветитьCircles of confusion. Points of light. Wide open lens, that point of light is very blurry. Lens opening (aperture) and mm and will determin size and amount of confusion. It can be very artistic, but also detract from your image, adding unwanted visual interference. Remember, less is more for visual impact in photography.
ОтветитьYeah, completely hiding the lake behind you was a good example of intense bokeh. Tony in his element...
ОтветитьAn EXCELLENT, informative, very understandable explanation! Thanks, Tony -- keep up the good work.
ОтветитьDammit, Tony. Making me enjoy learning about photography and stuff!
ОтветитьDUDE! It's very, VERY close to the first part of Pokemon!
ОтветитьThe host of the video looks like someone shart-ed in his face the night before this vid was recorded 😂
ОтветитьHoly cats eye
ОтветитьBokeh can be used in various ways and areas that one specializes in, especially with the subject. Bokeh can be interpreted in various ways.
I used to eliminate blurred photos. After learning about Bokeh, I embrace the blur.
Next time you get blurred photos, take another look...
LOL - so for the last few years I have been trying to enunciate Bokeh as you have described it in this video - and I can no longer ignore reality. Bokeh is treated as a transliteration and phonetic word IF you pronounce it BeauKa. However it is, from this Canadian, from now on spoken with the phonetic emphasis being logical.... EH! Therefore, from now on, I decree that the correct phonetic way to say this is the same way that everyone used to say it before they were "corrected". Bokeh is pronounced Bawk-"A". Bok-Eh. Bokeh. Welcome to North America, and not Asia. :-)
ОтветитьDo you know or have you heard . . . Which syllable is emphasized, the bo or the ke? Great video Tony.
ОтветитьWhos Lens for sony__Cat's eye shaped bokeh bolls...???
Ответитьbo-kuh? how about saying it correctly as in bo-kay?
ОтветитьOmg dude!!!! That heart shape trick blew my mind!
ОтветитьI think bokeh is under-appreciated. It's great to know that it doesn't matter to "most" people, but it's also great to appreciate the fine details of your craft and understand what works best for you!
Ответитьwow fantastic video, Highly informative
ОтветитьVery informative, Thanks Mr. Tony
ОтветитьThat's some mega Tonehture!
ОтветитьBokeh rhymes with pocket
ОтветитьWhen foreigners use Japanese words: Everyone gets picky about pronunciation. It's HaSHI, not HAshi. One is chopsticks the other is bridge! Get it right!!!
When Japanese use foreign words: za shichyuu ai wassu iitingu on mai tsuaa suruu doitsurando basso beri derishasu.
(The stew I was eating on my tour through Germany was very delicious.)
Always amuses me.
My wife made me watch Nicolas Spark's movie "The Choice", and wow that "stop sign" bokeh is distracting in the scene at night where the dude tells Gabby he loves her and to come clean about their relationship.
ОтветитьI say it like bo-kuh
ОтветитьRugby. Its called Rugby. Its like american football but better and has rules.
ОтветитьI like pentagonal and hexagonal bokeh. It may be a vintage thing, but I find it more true to the artform. It's an artefact of artists tools. It's the fingerprint of the lens. You may want busy or special shaped bokeh.
Ответитьreally nice explanation thank you! :)
ОтветитьOne of the best presentations ever on this topic. I rarely look to achieve bokeh. I'm big on storytelling aperture.
