I've worked in IT assisting users with Audio issues so I can help.
To address the issue of not hearing Jim's sound effects but his voice is fine I'll first have to assume these calls are done through MS Teams.

It offers three levels of AI based noise suppression.
Voice isolation, noise suppression, and high noise suppression.

The problem would have to be adjusted on Brian's end
To fix do this:

1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Device Settings and choose "noise suppression level" then choose "off"

Im not sure what audio Jim uses but it sounds like a noise cancellation setting somewhere that is gating anything that isn’t jim’s voice
