Could not agree with you more proper solder and a good iron makes a huge differance. Both of mine are pants (thats what im blaming anyway!!). PS dont forget to use heat sinks.
ОтветитьDo not buy solder in a hobby shop. Buy it at your local hardware store.
ОтветитьNope........I had a lead free solder that had a flux core, but it was horrible.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьYeah, I've had the real inexpensive wellers before, but without the right technique, the soldering iron is useless! The one I use now retails for like $30
ОтветитьMaybe outside of California...........all the hardware stores in CA can't sell solder with lead. I guess hobby shops have different rules though
ОтветитьTerrible! lol
ОтветитьReally? Thats strange since i live in illinois.
ОтветитьDo yourself a favor and ditch that iron for a better unit; minimum 40W. An adjustable station is worth the investment.
ОтветитьNicely done Mr Rich!
ОтветитьThe ironic thing is my previous iron was a 40w weller! I bought this (in the video) iron, as it uses only 18w of power to produce a steady 900 degrees of heat. The iron is actually pretty impressive for $30. I'm sure that a nice Trac-Power would be great, but I'd rather spend that $70-$80 on RC since this iron is doing pretty decent for me.
ОтветитьThanks RB
ОтветитьThanks Pat! I actually shot that part last because I forgot! lol then went back and re-edited it. You can hear a difference in the audio
ОтветитьThank you for some soldering :)
ОтветитьGrate vid
ОтветитьNice tutorial, also if you do not have a lighter or heat gun around i just hover my soldering tip around the heat shrink for a few seconds and it works great.
ОтветитьAwesome tutorial!!!
ОтветитьA cheaper alternative to buying solder at yourLHS is to check out your local Rat Shack.
Ответитьno problem!
ОтветитьThanks RCZ!
ОтветитьThanks MachoCave!
ОтветитьGreat tip
Ответитьa good set of strippers....mmmm.....suddenly soldering doesn't souds that boring....
ОтветитьNice! lol
Ответитьthat was really good, nice work
ОтветитьThanks Ben! Also, thanks for the Sub!
Ответитьhey, no problem!
ОтветитьAwesome video. I really enjoy your detail when it comes to tasks.
ОтветитьThanks, I appreciate the great comments. It was my first tutorial, which has led me to a one I'm posting today
Ответитьwhat solder should someone use to solder on rc stuff what type is what i'm asking????
ОтветитьAny "electrical" solder will do. In California, the home improvement stores do not carry lead based solder, so I buy mine at a hobby shop. Although more expensive, the $8 roll that I have has lasted me about 2 years and I still have about a quarter of it left. Basically, the more lead the better melting there is
Ответитьcould you possibly do a how to solder beginner series for people that aren't good at soldering and need help.It would be appreciated. Hope you think about it thanks keep up the great vids!!!!
ОтветитьI will work on it, however the Dean's video is pretty basic......
ОтветитьOne thing I do when soldering deans is put the other end of the connecter in, sometimes when you solder the heat will melt the plastic housing and the metals tabs can shift out of place, having the other end connected will hold everything steady so your connecters will connect/disconnect as they should. Normally as long as the iron is hot enough and the solder melts fast you shouldn't have that problem but just in case.
ОтветитьGreat tip! I have seen that done too. Now that I have the Trak Power Soldering Iron, I dont have to worry about melting any plastic anymore!
ОтветитьLika bowse
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьHad a go of doing it myself today, it sorta worked but i think my soldering iron wasnt hot enough to heat through the deans connector and the 12AWG wire im using. I got there in the end though
ОтветитьGreat deal. I have since got the Trak Power TK950 iron and soldering is SO much easier!
ОтветитьI've got my iron red hot
ОтветитьNice!
ОтветитьThat is a cool soldering iron, great video!
ОтветитьWhat is the thing you used to hold the deans connector called? And what is the width of your solder? Thanks love your videos man👍🏼
ОтветитьHelped a lot much appreciated.
ОтветитьI take it I’m using the wrong type of solder, as it’s just falls off and won’t stick to anything, just rolls into a ball and goes where gravity takes it.
ОтветитьGreat job! your accent sounds like you are saying sodder 😂. You got a new subscriber!
ОтветитьWhat Temperature do you set the soldering iron when you solder battery connectors?
ОтветитьRich great video I have learned a lot of soldiering techniques from you I had to do Deans connector and tried every different way well yours worked great THANKYOU bud
ОтветитьNice work. Very concise and simple. No bs method. Appreciate that.
