Agroheritage comprises local plant varieties and animal breeds, traditional
agricultural techniques uses, and related knowledge collectively developed by farmers through the ages. Although the survival of these agroheritage elements safeguards the sustainability of agriculture by providing diversity and buffering diseases and climate extremes; intensive farming has resulted in the loss of traditional seeds, animals, and knowledge day by day. Our project aims to introduce agroheritage concepts into the higher education agenda as a comprehensive course curriculum with free online learning material supported by practical training for agricultural students. The ultimate aim is to raise the awareness and capacity of future agriculturists to lead farmers by being innovative, creative, and cooperative in utilizing and conserving agroheritage.
This project was funded by ERASMUS+with KA203 - Strategic Partnerships for higher education fund from the European Commission (Project Acronym AGROHERITAGE, Project no: 2019-1-TR01-KA203-075715).
