THE WORST RUBIK'S CUBE JUDGES IN CUBING HISTORY

My judge was too busy solving HIS cube rather than judging me.

One time, I was judging this one girl. I knew her, because she had got several national records (specifically one for skewb that I knew of).

At that point, it was one of my first few competitions. So I didn’t know the rules entirely. Everything was good, and she finished her 3x3 solve. I then touched the cube before I had written down the time, and I had to count it as a DNF because of my mistake. That was years ago, so she’s probably forgotten by now, but it’s still one of the cringy things that keep me up at night.

I don’t remember the girls name, and I don’t care to do more research to find out who she was.

During 2x2 I was using a warmup cube and the judge snatched it from me and said “stop it I want to judge Patrick”. So basically, Patrick Ponce was at a comp and this kid wanted to judge him so he was trying to make us go quicker

The judge wrote dnf even though it was a plus two, and I had no video and he already MOVED THE CUBE AND COST ME A Good average bruh

Any talking by judge during solve other than start and stop procedure is not allowed in other cases an extra is given by a delegate

I was at a competition i got called up to solve and I said "ready." and the judge said ok and didn't lift the cover smh

My judge said 'you look like Rami Sbahi' in the middle of my solve lol

I accidentally said 8 minutes instead of 8 seconds then got yelled at by the kid in the faz WR average video

At a recent competition, I was doing pyraminx finals and I was called up to a table where a guy brought 4 non-wca puzzles to use while judging. They were loud, large, and very distracting. I ended up getting a sub-8 average which is still good but I almost plus-2ed a 9.93 because of him.

I took 15 seconds inspection time on a blindfold event

dude so at the odd seattle summer comp this like 4 year old kid was judging me and my entire solve he kept making snarky comments and telling me I was bad at solving. LOL

I had a round where only once did the judge wait for me to say ready, I wasn't bothered because I was about to say ready for them anyway but I gave him a reminder afterwards

No joke, there was a kid who was warming up for clock while at the judging station (computer and all). During my inspection, he put the cover over his own cube and started inspection for himself. Got a resolve for that one.

I got a 6 year old as a judge multiple times

yesterday at my first comp i forgot to hit reset for the inspection timer and the person got a resolve

I’m boutta go to my first comp so I hope I don’t get any of these judges

One time at the end of the solve the cube was outside the mat, i didn't give the guy a +2 and i still hesitate about it if it was against the rules or not.

How do you sign up to be a judge? I am going to my first comp this January (hopefully)

One of my judges at a competition did a full 2x2 solve during a pb solve and halfway through the solve he slammed his had on the table and it put an extra 2 seconds to my time…

This reminds me of one time I was judging, I was looking down with the stopwatch waiting to hear "ready" but a solid like 20 seconds past and I heard nothing so I looked up and see the most frustrated face. I wasn't sure if she just has a very quiet voice or couldnt speak, she was just nodding at me the whole time

My worst judging moment was when the guy said ready and I asked him ready? and he replied with ready again which threw him off lol

I was in the middle of a 4x4 solve and my judge said oh i will cubewith you and he had the loudest cube so i could just hear 'cckckckckckkckckckkkkckkckckckc'

at a comp, the judge sitting at the other side of the table just starts talking to me while he was judging. I took my head up for a second and made a look that said stop.

In my first comp I was judging someone in the 3x3 round and I didn't realize I hadn't restarted the timer, and when I realized, the guy was already solving the cube, ofc that guy got an extra

The latest comp I've gone to I was judge for Megaminx and I believe that I was the worst judge cuz I slept in while my competitor is doing a megaminx solve, my mom got a bit mad at me btw.

When i was in 3x3 and put the cube down to start my solve the judge said stop for some reason and i got a bad time

at my first comp i did the spamming moves during someones solve and at my second comp i wasnt rly thinking and a kid asked me a question and I shouted across the table during someones 5x5 solve it was the worst feeling

I forgot to say 8 seconds as a judge one time.

During a Skewb attempt I got a good scramble but right after I finished the judge reset the timer I said “ur not supposed to do that” it was an extra

At my first comp I got a 14 second time. It was about 20 seconds faster than my average. Weirdly that solve felt fast but not sub 20. I believe I might have stopped the timer early, and the juge didn’t notice but yeah. Also something relate to back up that the solve wasn’t fast it that I have improved massively ever since then and still haven’t got anywhere near that time.

The judge next to me talked with the guy he is judging, and I asked them to stop. They say they sorry, and they did it again in the next solve

Judge thought I needed an extra because because a inner piece in my 4x4 popped out and almost stopped my solve

In my first comp, i thought the competitor said ready and i lifted the cover. Turns out he wasn’t. He got an extra but the worst part is, that scramble was the best one in the finals set

My experience wasnt that bad. The judge did not say 8 seconds and directly said 12. The scramble was bad and i was looking at potential solutions for cross. I wouodve decided on a solution at 8 sec but that mever happened. I got so flustered that i wasted like 3-4 sec of the solve because i hadnt planned my solution

My worst judging experience was as a judge. I was paying full attention and i guess the guy said he was ready but it was so quiet you would need an asmr mic to hear it so i didnt lift the cover cause i didnt hear this guy whisper under his breath in a room full of people having conversations and he got very frustrated

Some kid at my last cubing competition actually got banned from judging, basically when I unfortunately had him as my judge I did a warmup solve on my spare cube and every like 5 seconds he’d ask are you ready, after I finished my warmup I didn’t even say ready and he just said 3-2-1 inspect, didn’t even say 8 or 12 seconds lol, as soon as I finished my solve the runner called out the name of the cuber for the table next to me and just got up and was like that’s my name too, I reported him and showed the delegate my phone footage and they got banned from judging

At my last comp the judge asked if I was ready any I told him “not yet” and he immediately lifted the cover. I told him I wanted an extra and to get a delegate, and after like 15 seconds of the cube just being there he put the cover on and said “no it’s fine, just do it again”. I had to go get the runners to get a delegate for me. The best part is I have the first part on video
