9mm vs 40 vs 45: Can’t Believe The Results

Also, the .40 S&W wound-channel in the ballistic gel was corkscrewed. That was cool AF. Imagine that going through an actual body or part. Done, son.

Harder for the 45 to go through the wood as it has a larger circumference. Easier for a needle to get through something than an arrow, and easier for an arrow to penetrate than a spear.

If you want to do a real test put you jell on a slide and see which bullet moves it the most. Penetration is not everything, a 22 LR will probably penetrate just as much as the center fires.

If this is about penetration then it's worthless.

IMO all are amazing with good power ammo. I personally prefer the 9mm because the ammo is cheaper to "target/fun" shoot plus it still packs enough power to stop anyone if you have to, hopefully not though.

The only thing I didn't really care for about your test which was it was very interesting is that he was only using non hollow point bullets and well I would like for you to see the test energy delivering power which one delivers the most amount of energy to its on impact to the Target

Why is he shooting hollow points does not meant for penetration

A city coroner once wrote his observations from the bodies he sees. The 9mm sometimes bounces off bone. The .40 and .45 just break through the bone and don't deflect.That extra mass makes the difference in humans.

For most it’s your frequency of practice that should matter. 9mm is almost always cheaper to buy ammo for. *at least for me*. Reloading 9mm has less concerns *in MY OPINION*. My personal feeling I can go lite loads to +p with little concern. .40 my opinion being extremely careful with loading data is required.
The slight possible improvement some claim in stopping power is not offset for average person. Recoil is slights different. Now if Supressors were not regulated so they cost 5x what they should. I would shoot more .40, & 45 acp. As a 9mm subsonic I don’t like shooting even in non supressed guns.

The .45 doesn't suck just because it didn't go through lumber. It has more stopping power than either the .40 or 9mm. Personally, if I were to choose between those three weapons for home defense, I'd pick the .45 because it's not likely to go through walls and hit something it isn't supposed to hit.

10mm is still king.

I find videos like this to be helpful in understanding the consequences of negligent and purposeful fire in the household environment.

Instead of starting with a 6 inch box of sand you should start with a 2 inch thick box of sand then a 4 inch box of sand then a 6 inch box of sand, you can also use very small pebbles then are great at stopping bullets as well

41 is far superior ruger red or black hawk 41 is the sweet spot. not 40 kinda like 20 cal in air rifles is king on bottom end not 177 or 22 mid is 28 cal air rifle is better than a 25 or 30 all around . rare birds for all 3. but superior all things considered . the rem 519..or 523 5mm with peters still holds the fastest fps 5243 or 5343 ? very rare combo and near impossible to find the peters . coyote is doa before he hears the shot up to 300 yrds.

The 45 has a larger diameter . The larger diameter bullet takes more velocity to go thru the same amount of lumber. Remember the larger diameter bullet makes a larger hole.

oookkay, revising my plan to overturn the picnic table as a shield. didn't know they could penetrate that so easily.

The only thing sand is used for is filling bags for high water control or foxhole fortification, time permitting. I haven't ever seen anyone walking around with duct taped boxes hanging on their person, vehicle,home,etc.Maybe a small bucket with lid or milk jug would make your life easier if you must shoot sand. I'm unsubscribing for a break as all your caliber comparisons always end up in a 3 way tie,and Terry needs a damn bath ! 🥱

I really like these test videos but why are you guys always resusing the same material. If you have 3 guns use 3 separate test pieces for each test so we can see accurate results.

The best takeaway is; the difference in damage is negligible. The Critical focus as always should be on Bullet Placement...
