RT makes games really come alive. It just hasn't been utilized very well up until very recently. Night and day difference here.
Glad you did a fast pan and then A/B. Slow pans and no A/B plus long times between makes it hard to compare. Expertly done :)

this vedio made me wants to by an rtx 4090, cause with my rtx 3070ti i can only get 40fps at 2k ray tracing with upscaling

Ray tracing really brings the life to the game.. I have seen few comparsions before, where you could hardly find differences, but here, OMG! 😮

I don't know because the game already looks great without RTX. For 60 series graphics cards, you lose 20 to 40 fps and drop below 60 FPS. I'm not sure that it's really useful and that the change is drastic. You take places where it allows us to really see the difference, but when you're playing I don't think the change is flagrant. However, I've never tried it. I think the RTX is justified, as long as you have a 70 series card or higher.

One of the few games I've seen where the difference is immediate and jaw dropping. Props to CDPR for releasing this as a free update and keeping this game looking as amazing as we remember it looking in 2015 at launch!

Nice, but can you show the fps on screen. My biggest problem with ray tracing is how much resource it takes to run it.

There are differences especially in reflection and interior, but having 30 fps hit just not worth the cost

The problem I see with these types of conversions to RTX is that the artistic aspect of the original lighting is lost. It's like when making a movie, lights are placed in places where there aren't supposed to be, to produce certain effects in the scene. And here you see many scenarios where certain areas are too dark, like the blacksmith, who in a real situation could not work in such a dark place. I think these conversions should be worked on more to recover the original intention of those who created the game.

As i RTX user myself, this is the second game where Raytracing actually improved the picture quality, in my opinion its still not worth it.

Witcher 3's ray tracing AO is too strong

I played the witcher ages ago but didn't play the expansions when are apparently amazing. I am now playing them for the first time with next gen update and Ray tracing, so bloody happy I waited. (Reason I couldn't get into it originally was the 30fps on ps4 was driving me nuts but years later I now have a top of the line pc)

I’m so glad that Ray Tracing is finally realizing its potential in games. Lighting is a critical factor for realism. I can’t wait to see how creative devs will get with it.

Playing this at 4k ultra with ray tracing feels like I’m playing the Witcher 4 it’s awesome

Playing this on the 4090 maxed out ray tracing 1440p. No bs like dlss or frame gen. Its always about 65 fps which is more than playable. This is the only title ive played yet where RT makes a massive difference. This video does it no justice. Once you get used to it and turn it off the game looks lifeless. RT is for real. Just a shame the cost of entry is so high snd unattainable for most to enjoy

Since I can't run this game with ray tracing, even though I really want to, I'm just gonna tell myself that ray tracing is lore breaking because it darkens the environment a lot, and witchers are supposed to see well in the dark.

trees are better with RTX, in other cases without rtx its more realistic for my opinion. Too much too dark shadows and yellow glow and bloom everywhere.

Definitely gotta use ray tracing for this one. My FPS will suffer, but this is my first time jumping in after the next-gen patch was released and I want to experience all the improvements that are on offer.

Looks good but they needed to add some more point lights in some places. It's really dark now.

What rtx setting do you think makes the biggest difference in overall visuals? Im currently only using global illumination set on performance mode and ambient occlusion toggled on for rtx settings. Reflections and shadows for rtx i have turned off. Aside from performance drops, is the quality setting for global illumination that much better than performance?

Even though I understand RT is ultra realist and I do think it's the best way to do 3D graphics, I think it should take into account how the human eye and brain work. They are able to balance high contrasts in order to be able to see both bright and dark areas at the same time, a bit the same as the HDR (the one in photography) works, the brain takes several pictures in order to get all the information. So in the end the contrast appears diminished, although it's the brain that does that, while the optics works just as RT does. That's why I think contrast should be set lower in RT imo. Maybe somewhere in between RT on and off versions.

It looks great outside, but sometimes it breaks gameplay, especially at dark underwater caves where you cant use torch, and have no "Cat" potion. And also my RTX3060 can't handle it 60 fps 1920x1080 unfortunatelly :(

The biggest difference it makes is that it enables a Performance Mode, called 'straight garbage' .

50 fps with RT on my 3080 TI but damn it looks amazing.

It looks somewhat nice I guess, but even if it didn't take that much fps I still wouldn't use it. Unfortunately, the RTX isn't as good as say Metro Exodus, but I doubt there will be any game as good as Metro when it comes to RTX implementation.

I love games which has it's own artistic style as opposed to trying photo realism.
This is why Witcher 3 still looks so great after all these years the world is so colorful and vibrant and the atmosphere is so nice with background music.
One of the best games ever made.
