Wish I had been there
ОтветитьAs a unit these guys were so tight, and this is just three years in. They became more polished, but the raw and at times frenetic energy (especially from Chris on guitar) in those early days is really something to behold.
ОтветитьBACKING TRACK!? WHAT!? I dont think from 83/84 on they played with one!
ОтветитьI love how they play Trouble In Paradise at about .85 the speed of the original recording, the OG recording is far too fast. Slowed 15% is perfect for this song, genius.
ОтветитьUm he took his face away from the mic during the first song but the vocal track was still going?
ОтветитьVery well rehursed band... Mario one of the best bass players. Very smooth
ОтветитьAwesome band I love ❤️
ОтветитьJohnny Colla!
ОтветитьOne of the best bands that came out of the MTV era of rock music!
ОтветитьThose were the days, when 25 yrear old peiole knew how to handlle an instrument.
ОтветитьI was a kid when I recorded this off MTV. I watched it constantly. As big as Sports and Fore! were, this concert gave me a huge appreciation for the stuff off their first two albums. They were my first favorite band and I was just starting to get into the drums. I didn't get my first kit until I was a teenager, but I would use my mom's knitting needles as drumsticks and air drum the entire concert. Bill Gibson was awesome!
ОтветитьDo you believe in love was worth the price of admission! Wow! Tighter than Dick’s hatband! 💪👌
ОтветитьBeen a HL&TN fan for over 30 years now. This is one incredible show.Absolutely blown away by how close this sounds to radio play. The guys' vocal harmonies are so on point.Huey is a phenomenal frontman but I gotta say Chris may well be stealing the show here with those awesome solos.
ОтветитьThis was when it used to be good to live in California.
ОтветитьThese cats just sound soooo good live, take notes kids, that's how ya do that..xox
ОтветитьThe Only One and Some Of My Lies Are True (Sooner or Later), back to back, are stellar. Two of my all-time favorite HL&TN tunes.
ОтветитьJohnny Colla, the saxophonist. His mother was my sixth grade teacher. He came to my class and met the whole class in 1984. This was in Fairfield, California. At Bransford elementary school.
ОтветитьThe only News worth listening to.
ОтветитьIt's not the original audio
Ответитьat the 6 minute mark, Huey, gives the sound guy the thumbs up (after he fixes the feedback); without missing a beat <3
Ответитьahh the sounds of the 80s. So upbeat and happy.
ОтветитьLoved it! Wish they were still touring all the original guys
ОтветитьWhoever MTV got to do their makeup was TERRIBLE lol! They look a little like girls. That’s embarrassing!
ОтветитьAlma, vida y corazon por siempre!
ОтветитьAcabei de assistir a todo o show, 1982 eu tinha 12 anos, que tempo bom, a música deles tocou muito nas fms aqui do Brasil especialmente em São Paulo.
ОтветитьChris Hayes on a Les Paul?! His tone is crazy, sounds like a fuzz pedal turned all the way down
ОтветитьAlways loved these tunes!
ОтветитьMy brother and I would watch MTV Saturday Night Concerts every weekend as a matter of course. That was when MTV played MUSIC 24 hours a day and before they became whatever horse hockey they are now. Ahh man how I so miss the 1980s. Lemme tell you Gen Y and Z folks out there- it was as good a time as you have heard and read about. Oh yeah and Chris Hayes never has gotten the credit he deserves as a bad ass guitar player.
ОтветитьThey must have been required to nome this one.
ОтветитьSaw them in 85 on Sports tour. Phenomenal show. Tell me a little lie and buzz buzz buzz were excellent.
ОтветитьWhen I asked my dad what the best album to listen to was, he said "Sports" but the more I listened to these guys I really thought Picture This was their best album
ОтветитьLegend.
ОтветитьOn the radio day in and out what a time that was seems like a different world I was in 10th grade! Lol
Ответить82 or 83 is when I first heard them. Had their first album on cassette and wore it out. Before them, I didnt like modern music of the 70's and early 80's. I liked music of the 40's and 50's that I heard on my grandparents' and parent's records better. Huey Lewis' blend of blues, doo wop, and Motown with modern rock really resonated with me. Their a capella songs prove what talented singers they are. Just incredible! The a capella they do on each album and concert were what most impressed me and made them my favorite modern band when I was a kid.
ОтветитьMan, when I found out Huey had to give up the sing it broke my heart.
What a genuine talent.
Health be with Huey.
Cheers.
Saw this exact concert at the grandstand of our local fair in July 1982 (minus Tower of Power Horns). They played 2 shows that night. I was just shy of turning 10 years old. My mom took me, and after seeing those 2 shows that night, we were fans for life. And I always had such a crush on Chris Hayes :) Their first 2 albums had that rock vibe that I love so much, more than the other albums. Saw them twice more in 1985 and 1987, and they had Tower of Power with them for those shows. HL&TN are a killer live band.
ОтветитьYou never really knew how fabulous this band was until you've watched this 42 years later and suddenly dawned on you just how bad music has become over that time
ОтветитьSensational Heuy Lewis & the News 🙏🏼🥳
Fan for ever HOLLAND 🇳🇱
Trouble in Paradise 😊😊❤
ОтветитьThose eyebrows. The looks and sounds are so distinctive. So fun.
ОтветитьOne of the Best Bands....Ever.
ОтветитьThe band members work together so smoothly. It produces magic and a unique whole
ОтветитьIn the 6 years between 1980 and 1986 they managed to put out 4 amazing albums plus the 2 songs off the Back to the Future soundtrack. In the 38 years since, you might be able to put together a 5th amazing album if you cherry picked the best songs off everything they’ve done in that time. It’s like the well just ran dry, but back when it was producing…wow!
ОтветитьOof that guitarist bending too sharp on those notes. Hurts the ears. Clearly is early in their career.
Ответить"Do you believe in love" was my high school sweethearts song, Laurie.
ОтветитьI've been a fan since 1982, and I grew up listening to all their work, fantastic concert. Thanks for uploading.
ОтветитьJust incredible!!! Real players playing great music
