Internship: Community education network - Intranet (complete)

Currently in Galapagos, access to the internet is very limited and its use for educational purposes is difficult. There is also no place that provides easy access to educational information, which makes it difficult for students to learn about the diversity of information that is generated inside and outside Galapagos.

Daniel is creating an educational intranet, in collaboration with Beyond Chacay Foundation, the universities of Villanova (USA) and ESPOL (Ecuador), and the company IFOTONCORP. This will facilitate access to content, resources and tools to improve education in Galapagos with an integrated approach and a focus on sustainable development.

The intranet will allow all schools on the islands of Santa Cruz, San Cristobal and Isabela to share free off-line resources, providing permanent support to improve local educational processes. The platform has a web-based visualisation that will allow dynamic and interactive access to the library of resources.

Thanks to an alliance with the student participation programme, 35 young people from a local school, San Francisco College, will collaborate with the mapping and gathering of information through interviews and surveys with teachers. In addition, once the intranet is ready, a campaign will be launched to promote its use in all schools.
