Yes, some western people do cook and barbecue in the wood burning fireplace. We do. Especially if the fireplace is large enough and or the electricity is out for a long time because of a storm or something.

I know in Su Won, our house floors were heated but we used compressed coal instead of wood. Very nice and toasty.

Fascinating! So, I'm assuming the plastic tubing, presumably pex, is used as a conduit for hot air. If so, Wouldn't it be more efficient to use hot water to heat the thermal mass, as in modern hydronic systems? I must say that I and appreciate the simplicity of this system if I understand it correctly.

Hello from Washington State USA. I have been looking for a channel like this for a long time. Please thank the businesses and workers, for allowing you to film. But most of all, thank you for your time and effort in making these.

Fascinating seeing these foreign traditional techniques. So many differences to western ones.
In Germany up until the 60s, wood- or coal fired stoves for cooking and heating the room were common even in cities, with additional ovens in other rooms and often multiple chimneys.
But today noone actually uses anything like this anymore.
