I purchased my Seltos car in April 2023, and while the car has generally performed well, I’ve had several issues that impacted my overall experience. At 3000 km, I received a "check engine" error, and after sending the car to the workshop, they found the catalytic converter was blocked. The part was replaced after retaining the car for 10 days due to a delay in getting the part. Then, again at 6000 km, the "check engine" error occurred again. The workshop initially couldn’t trace the root cause, but I suggested that the issue might be due to the AdBlue supply, which they corrected after further checks.

More recently, I had my vehicle serviced at KIA, and the experience has been frustrating. The repairs took three weeks, even though I was initially told it would be a one-day job. Additionally, communication was poor, with no updates or responses to my calls.

The cost of the parts was also shockingly high. For example, Part No. 296302U000 (MODULE-DOSING NOZZLE) was charged at Rs. 26,610/-, and Part No. 31570Q6800 (HEATING TUBE-UREA) at Rs. 13,995/-, with the total bill amounting to Rs. 53,232/- (including GST and labor). Upon researching, I found that the market price for these parts is less than 50% of what I was charged, especially Nozzale cost in market is Rs.7,500/-

Although the issues have been corrected, I am not happy with the car due to the excessively high parts costs compared to the market. Additionally, I strongly feel that the recent problem with the urea system is due to improper handling of the original issues at 3000 km and 6000 km. KIA claims the recent issue is due to some accident affecting the underbody, but I have not done any off-roading.

One important point I do not understand is why such costly parts are kept in the underbody without any protection, which suggests there might be design issues since the model is old. My experience with KIA's service has been disappointing, and I hope they improve in these areas for future customers.

I understand the base model is quite OK if you get one that doesn't burst into flames. I'd prefer not to take the risk.

Believe it or not many people don’t want hybrid drivetrains.

Horse poo, their 146 hp 4 cylinder engine producing 34 mpg hwy is better than my 2000 Ford Taurus wagon with a V6 producing 140 HP @ 27 mpg hwy.

2021 KIA SELTOS SX TURBO w/7spd. DCT (transmission) has overheating tendencies in stop-n-go traffic.... meaning travel at your own risk. The good thing is the vehicle will tell you to pull over, and shut off the vehicle, and then sit for hours before trying again.

This just sounds like you work for someone afraid of comp. Do you work for BMW or someone else

I've been showing around for cars and recently test drove a huyndai tuscon that I really like but the spacing between the gas and break pedals kind of aggravated the arthritis in my knees. My sister had a sportage that I didn't find bad to drive though so I started looking into the sportage and stumbled into the seltos. Which unlike the sportage I might be able to get a seltos new for the same cost as the used tuscon I was looking at... so its now kind of on my list honestly.
Honestly I didn't think it's base trim was lacking too much. I think the only two things it was missing that I was interested in was the blind spot indicators and remote start. Though I've lived without remote start for a while. I do kind of want the blind spot indicator though... so maybe the Sportage is still my better option.

Hrv and crosstrek don’t offer a hybrid option. Do your research before you post. Very amateuristic.

The base model lacks features...well duh! That's the point of a base model. Buyers give up fancy features that they don't need for a lower price.

We have a 2022 Seltos SX. WE LOVE IT! It's been reliable, roomier than it looks, and it's not bad looking either. The 1.6L turbo is a blast to drive!

Not be the right choice if you're a BAD DRIVER . and proper maintenance.

Just bought a 2024 EX. For the most part I really like the car. My only complaint is the suspension. You feel every single bump in the road and I suspect I’m going to have issues with it in the future.

Just got the wife a 2025 Seltos EX AWD. Plenty of power for her...tonns of tech...power seats and power lift gate. Average over 30 mpgs. Msrp was $29650. Got $1500 discount. Under $30000 out the door. Very pleased.

The interior is great i love it, And gas mileage is really not bad.

My wife has the 1.6 turbo and as soon as it hits boost it actually moves very well, way better than the 2.4 non turbo in her old sportage

Let me tell you first hand and counter everything you've just said!

Power train: For being a 2l it's surprisingly quick being only 1380kg. With fuel economy at 5.9l per 100km.

Hybrid engine: Doesn't need one with the economy it achieves. However hybrid is available on the next generation.

Fuel economy: Is actually fantastic with smaller engine but low vehicle weight.

Interior: For the price this is incredible quality. Comfortable seats and ride, leather steering wheel, plenty of space. Stylish inside and out.

Desirable features: If you want Desirable features you'll be paying the price for them it's not like kia has you in a choke hold. Base model still includes some fantastic features.

Towing: Still has a decent towing capacity but who uses trailers these days.

Overall the ride is comfortable and economic.

I'm an engineer and I've got plenty of storage space around the spear wheel to keep the boot clean for my larger parts and tool box.

All I can say is unless you've got the Seltos you'll never truly understand just how good it is for value and unfortunately I think that went straight passed this reviewers head...terrible review

All true what you've said. But not everyone just has an extra 10 grand in the pocket, to buy the superior cars that you mention. If you're buying the Seltos base model you're doing it for the price point, not for the features and power train.

I have Kia seltos HTK+ , my sister has Kia sonet htx+ and my dad has a tata punch , so I basically drive all these cars but I found Kia sonet and seltos both are basically almost the same driving experience but seltos has more space inside the cabin and it's little bit softer to drive than sonet. But Tata punch is also a good car when it comes to safety but engine noise is very annoying.but due to its compact size it's very easy to drive in cities.

I got a 2021 Kia Seltos SX AWD (1.6 Turbo) never had a problem with it and I get an average of 33 mpg.. and I use it to drive Uber fulltime

People buy a Kia to save money. Therefore most of these points aren't really that deal breaking.

Hey Kia put the old bullet proof 2.4 liter 163hp motor with the new 8 speed tranny somehow in this car and that would make it zippy enough.

The Seltos is a subcompact SUV, yet it has more passenger space, quality tech, a more upscale interior, and infinitely more style than the compact RAV4. I leased a 2021 SX turbo and it was a gem of a vehicle. I often miss it.

I've got one. I love it.
