Japanese ones just sound like studio ghibli to me in a good way
ОтветитьOI, not all of Glass's music is like that ;_; the Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack for instance is super access-- (remembers The Grid) y'know what, Nevermind? Love him tho.
ОтветитьJust found your channel! Love it. The description of 'the Japanese music aesthetic' was pretty spot on, and I'm a sucker for it too. Diving into Yoshimatsu now. I compose my own stuff too - just on musescore - but the videos on my page with the tree thumbnails are what I've done so far. There are things there I'm proud of - you might find something you like. Thanks again - subscribed.
ОтветитьI dislike Arvo but I do like minimalists like Glass or Adams. Love Nature of Daylight
ОтветитьThanks for this list, I am by no means someone who knows composers, but I thought it was sad to not have Ludovico Einaudi on the list. Also, I think it is funny that more than 2 of the composers listed all have work used in movies or more commercially , bringing up the question of the line between film music and classical. With that in mind I'd also add Christophe Beck!
ОтветитьThis is, like, very depressing.
As someone who really likes classical music and eager to discover more amazing stuff. To find out that there aren’t any real options…
Love Fratres
ОтветитьThis music put me to sleep,
ОтветитьXenakis, Reich, Ligeti, Feldman, Rzewski are some of my favourites
ОтветитьJohn Williams is the goat
ОтветитьBetween Film music and classical music the line is Bollywood guys. Its Bollywood
ОтветитьGreat picks here! "Pärt" rhymes with "there," guys. Fratres is his best work; everyone should hear the Werthen/I Fiamminghi version for violin, strings, and percussion, and be amazed.
Michael Nyman's Double Concerto for Saxophone and Cello is one of his most stylistic, melodically rich, and just plain fun works.
One day, Eddy is gonna buy a comb so every video doesn't look like he waddled over straight from bed.
ОтветитьI am a living contemporary classical composer!!
ОтветитьI love Grazyna Bacewicz ❤
ОтветитьArvo Part foreverrrrrrrr
ОтветитьI like Alan Hovhaness but I dont think too many people know about him. Wonderful composer.
ОтветитьThank you so much for showing us that not all modern composers suck. So refreshing, you guys are amazing.
ОтветитьNot at least one female composer!?
ОтветитьMax Richter also wrote Sleep, which is 8hrs long and designed to be listened to through the night, it even has a 'musical sunrise' as he puts it and it an amazing experience
ОтветитьCAROLINE SHAW VIDEO PLEASE
ОтветитьThank you very much for this video, finding classic contemporary composers is pretty hard and showing them able to the people that classic music is not only in the past . I fall in love of Takashi yoshimatsu and I showed his music to my brother and now he is a classic music listener
Ответить"Classical" it's not a genre. If you compose symphonic/whatever music you're not automatically "classic".
ОтветитьLittle late but the „ä“ in Arvo Pärt you pronunce like Batman or hat or cat or Alice etc.
ОтветитьLang’s idea is beyond creative and brilliantly simple.
ОтветитьOnly post tonal thing.
Nothing about other kind of music.
Really retrograd channel, old stereotype,
Classical period is just a little period in the music history.
Philip Glass is better than all of them.
ОтветитьCheck out Kazuhiro Gambe, seriously good (living) classical piano composer
ОтветитьTwo of my favorite composers are Yasushi Yoshida and Takahiro Kiro. Yasushi Yoshida's "Heavenly Me Last Days" Album is all wonderful, but the 10 minute title piece will never get old to me :)
ОтветитьI also love Ludovico Einaudi, Roberto Cacciapaglia, Johann Johansson
ОтветитьIn case anyone is interested, Max Richter also wrote an incredible piece called ‘Mercy’ that’s got a somewhat similar feeling to On the Nature of Daylight. Hilary Hahn has a stunning recording of it that I’ve listened to for a long time, but I only discovered recently that Richter was the composer. 11/10 would highly recommend.
ОтветитьRaise your hand if there is something moving or exciting in these works that makes you want to hear them more than once.
ОтветитьThis type of video should not get copystriked. It is informative should be under the fair use policy. On top of that videos like this help the musicians get exposure to new listeners. I bet many viewers go and download the music afterwards.
ОтветитьI highly recommend Fazil Say if you haven't listened to anything by him yet!
ОтветитьYasunori Mitsuda all the way!
ОтветитьMy favorid piece is paradiis - Pärt Uusberg the most sad piano piece by Estonia! (Much easy to play at the beginner)
Ответить(Lol i know i’m shosty but i’m also a person)
I compose a lot, and I’ve always been worried that my work is completely irrelevant because of the age that I live in, and the age that I am. It’s nice to see that others are like me and are working to the same things that i am! Thanks twoset, we love you <3
Great video. You’ve introduced me to some great new composers. But I don’t see how you could make this video and not mention John Adams. Harmonium, Dr Atomic, Short Ride in a Fast Machine… the list goes on. He’s just such a great composer.
ОтветитьAs far as choir goes, I would suggest Eric Whitacre.
Ответитьjohn mackey is a great contemporary composer, Undertow specifically. the modulating time signature makes it a great piece to not only listen to but to play as well.
ОтветитьKrysztof Pendercki!
ОтветитьPlease, contemporary composers, go to Beethoven symphonies, study them and use them as a paradigm to compose your symphonies. Especially go to his ninth symphony.
ОтветитьMax Richter's "On the Nature of Daylight" is the soundtrack of the film "Arrival" (2016). And it was played during sorrowful moments of film, so now I can't get rid of this sad feeling while listening to it.
ОтветитьLiterally just found out about David Lang today, and I’m going on a deep dive into his pieces
ОтветитьLMAO AS SOON AS I OPEN THE VIDEO ITS MAX RICHTERS VIVALDI RECOMPOSED
ОтветитьGentlemen, I’m a big fan of yours, and always will be. I must admit, however, that I’m rather disappointed in the choices you’ve put forth to represent contemporary music. I am by no means a fan of complexity for its own sake, but the music you’ve espoused all seems to come from the putatively profound, “navel-gazing” school of minimalism, wherein music doesn’t really develop so much as it perpetuates itself via copy-paste-copy-paste ad nauseum. Surely there are some living composers whose primary aims aren’t to lull or tranquilize the listener that you could feature in a follow-up installment?
ОтветитьI'm exploring a bit of Michael Daugherty's work now. I greatly enjoyed the premiere of his new violin concerto "Blue Electra", and liking what else of his I'm finding.
ОтветитьDose anyone know any "Classical" symphony or orchestral piece composed now a days?? Thanks
Ответить
