Hi Mary, I love entertaining and this book reinforces why I love it! I get such joy when my guess sit down to a beautiful table! Recently I served coffee and cake informally (I thought) to a couple of neighbors. I later found out one neighbor was quoted as saying....when you have coffee with Linda it's with a tablecloth, cup and saucer! No mugs!! (LOL) I always treat my quest as "special" no matter who they are and love doing it. I am going to check into the roses as they look beautiful! Lovely video---with music that seems to say: Remember when....? Nothing is more memorable than sharing food and good times with those we love---and nothing is more memorable than the beautiful table setting that sets the stage for such memories! As Thankgiving approaches, I am reminded of a dear friend who is now passed, who I spent time with on Thanksgiving Day---just 2 yrs ago. I was in the process of moving away and wanted to spent the day with her---one last time. We had agreed to have dessert together in the early evening: she wasn't feeling her best so I told her to let me take care of everything! So at around 5 pm I headed down the hallway to her apartment with my large silver tray loaded with china dessert plates, cups & saucers, crystal water glasses, napkins & pearl handled flatware for the pumpkin pie that I had not yet been able to perfect! It was simple and elegant, warm & authentic as we had a great time talking and laughing and sharing---one last time! I will never forget that special evening with someone who was so very special in my life! We were both going through trying circumstances---but we had come through worse---so we did what came naturally: we made the best of it in gracious style! Happy Thanksgiving, to my dear friend whom I shall never forget!

I always look forward to the book you will highlight and was thrilled you chose Veranda Entertaining, I have this book and have not perused it in a while. Loved revisiting it with you and will curl up (it’s cold here) and revisit this beautiful book. Your voice is sweet and calming. When I hear it, I reminisce about visits with my mother's people during vacations in Mississippi and Mother's reversion to the accent and intonation of her younger years for two weeks prior. "Like melted butter" we would say about the way the words would roll off her tongue. 😊
