This is a quick dyno run of the XK engine I rebuilt. Thanks to Knight Racing Services for allowing me to film this.
This engine was supposed to go into my father's XK140 back in the early '70s, but he never got round to restoring it. When I took over the project I found that the existing engine could be revived, so I decided to bring this engine up to the spec that my father had intended.
It has 9:1 compression ration Mahle pistons, reproduction 2" H8 carbs and a host of other tweaks from the likes of Chesman Motorsport, Guy Broad, etc.
Because this run was intended to show the rebuild has worked, there's no fine-tuning done. The carbs have standard needles and the timing is, just about, stock.
The final power and torque curves show that the whole project produced what was intended, and that was progressive and stable power, up to 208 @ 5,200, with high torque available through out the rerange. Max torque of 225 lb-ft @ 4,400. Obviously, the engine is capable of more, it just depends on where it's used.
